MISSION STATEMENT

Mission Statement / Site Objective

Berjaya Hills covers 16,000 acres of rugged hills and mountains crowned with lush tropical rainforests. At 2,700 - 3,500 feet above sea level, the air is cool, fresh and rejuvenating. Berjaya Hills major investment are the essance of different cultures of the world. The existing two popular theme villages are French Village and Japanese Village. For their coming investments are more towards the European cullture, such as "The Chateau Spa Resort" which is modified from Chateau, France, Granada Spanish Village, Greek Acropolis and German Castle.
The objective of the website is to create a truly different cultures of the world through visual. Visitors will think that they are in France, then in Japan although Berjaya Hills is actually located in Malaysia. So the purpose of the website is to get visitors' first impression that they are experiencing different cultures that really attract them to visit the place and to stay there.
Goals
Idea
As its location is on the hill and the cooling air, the location and the weather are already an advantage. The mode should be fresh, cool and relaxing. Same to the website, it should project the feeling of relaxing, joyful and enjonying. As the destination is having different cultures, my idea is to make a crossover culture between France and Japan.
Concept
The feeling of being in France and Japan are stronger because of the weather and the unique architecure. So, the overall design will be focused on the France style or European style, probably show more good images on the elements of the village. When come to the Japanese site, it will change the design to Japanese culture. The changing part is only on the decorated graphic, the layout and buttons will be remained. This will remain the consistency and continuity of every page, at the same time also experiencing different culture.
I have noticed that visitor cannot make an online booking or send email straight to Berjaya Hills. If possible, I will insert a section of "Online Booking" navigation form to make reservation and check for availability. To provide another easy and convenient booking method to visitor.

1- Website for Disneyland Paris is very dynamic and sufficient. The format of the website is XHTML combining with Javascript and Flash. The main navigation menu is on top of every page. Latest offers and promotions are annouced on the homepage. User will able to know about it on the first visit eventhough user does not want to continue to surf. This website has very good interaction, suitable sound effect and animation inserted.



2- This website has very good colour mode and colour contrast, that able to create an outstanding visual. Form the aspect of design, it is a well done graphic that successfully carry out the theme.




3- The content and navigation system are well organized. The sub navigation is on top, next to the image. The promotion and latest news are at bottom left whereas the content is at bottom right. There is a row of small icon on top of most, which are icons for printing, saving, email purposes. It is very convenient.



4- If we notice carefully, there are 4 different colour modes which are blue, pink, green and orange. Eventhough they has different colour mode, they still remain the consistency in design, layout and navigation menu.



5- They provide links to Disney Hotel in other country as well as links to partner hotels eventhough it is the website of Disneyland Paris. There 3 steps to book a room. Step 1 is to fill in all your requirements. Step 2 is to choose the hotel you prefer. Step 3 is to confirm booking and it will show the price on the spot. Everything in one page but it's easy and clear.




6- Can you see the Alladdin's monkey? Yes, it is the inserted animation. The inserted animation makes this page becomes more exciting and also gives a suprise to user.





7- This website very concerns on its customer. They provides smart tips on where to find the places in Disneyland. Some preparations that you should make before you go to Disneyland. Also, they consider about those who are disable visitor, what to take care. Special facilities like parking, toilet, instructions are provided for disable visitor. They even provide guide dog for guests with hearing / visual impairments. It's really caring.




8- On the " what's new " page, currently the " Designer Princesses for UNICEF " is undergoing. It's a coustume design for Disney princesses by European fashion designers. Their creations will be auctioned off at CHRISTIE'S, with proceeds going to UNICEF France. This will leave a very good impression that Disney is actually doing charity no matter how much profit it has made.




9- User can sign up to become a Disney member. There are 10 reasons given why user should consider to become a member. We can see here is, this website has a very good marketing plan in conjunction with product plan. The mission and goals are successfull fulfilled. Why? After I have visited this website, I have a very strong feeling / willing to go to Disneyland Paris. It's magical, exciting and most happening wonderland.

Awana Genting

1- The similarity of this website is there is also a picture viewing of the hotel. The navigation menu is on top as well. There is an advantage here is, there is always shortcut navigation for user to check for availability booking in every page. Awana has three resort hotels at 3 different locations in Malaysia (Genting, Kijal, Porto Malai). User can check on either one of it in the same website. In this website, user can prefer to view in English or Mandarin.






2- The facilities and restaurant are introduced together with images, it is a cleaver way to deliver the message. I think they should have a nicer and better quality of images. At this site, I feel more to second class condition than a first class condition. If Awana wants to be projected as 5 Star hotel imej, they should put more efforts on the website.


Room rates and seasonal chart are shown in typical way, everything in one page, not creative. User will never know how are the rooms look like because no images of the rooms are shown. This is very bad, user may consider to look for other accomadation this case.




3- For meeting and bussiness purposeses, when user click on the menu, it will link to another website. Awana separates bussiness site to another individual website. Awana offers meeting packages, etc. Besides leisure holiday, Awana also focus on the bussiness site where it has a stand alone website targetted for bussinessman.




4- There are many activities and adventure hold by Awana. Awana Genting is very well known for its Golf club. It is the only golf field in Genting Highlands and it is the main selling point. In this website, there are intro for golf and geographical description of the golf field. Green color mode is suitable for the concept of hill and golf, but darker green will enchance more. Design and content lay out can be more interesting.

Awana Genting is not Berjaya Hills main copetitors, yet Genting Group is the one. Most of the upper class hotel in Genting are alias with Genting Group. Genting's direction is towards themepark and casino. Which mean that they target children, youngsters and aldult. A place which is suitable for the family to have fun. It is meant for those who seek for adventure, but not those who want a relaxing holiday.













Strawberry Park, Cameron Highlands

1- There is a picture viewing of the hotel on top of the page. The navigation menu is on top as well, it is easy and clear to acess. On the content section, it is divided into 3 parts, a brief intro on the hotel, intro on the facilities and latest promotions.




2- User can check on the type of rooms that this hotel provided, the floor plan of the room is shown here. Things that are not sufficient here is lack out of images of every type of room. I think if more pictures are shown will be more attractive. User will have a better impression if the hotel is in well condition.




3- This page is showing on the facilities of the hotel. Again, if images are provided together with the facilities will be good. The hotel has many rooms and halls for bussiness purposes. Meeting facilities like projector, chart and white board will be an advantage.




4- There are only three press release on this site as we can see here. This shows that the information news are not so updated. It will be quite a lost if the user want to know what's is actually happening in the hotel instantly. Therefore, updated news is essential.


Maps are provided here for people who do not how to get to the hotel. There are 2 types of maps, one is Malaysia Penisula Map and another one is the map of Cameron Highland.




5- User can make a reservation online. User just has to fill every particular in the form. The form is very detail and it really help the management to take care of the customer. On another hand, user will feel that they are being concerned. For example, if user has special requirement, user can require right at here as there is a coloumn for user to type.

Cameron Highlans is a relaxing place where people prefer to have good rest and enjoy the green nature. Cameron undergoes plantation such like vegetation, flower and tea. Visitor can experience a different way of life, the farm life. It's a good place to run away from the city and the noise.

Getting to Cameron Highlands by car needs the longest time compare with Genting and Bukit Tinggi. The road along to the destination is harder than the other two.

RESEARCH - CORPORATE WEBSITE




1) This is a Sunway Resort Hotel main address page. User can choose the hotel from different location to link to the website of the specific hotel that has been chosen. Also, user can check for the avaibility booking right here. For those consumer already know where they want to stay and when they are going to stay, they can check it on the spot. There is an overview images of the hotel base on the location, user will have a clearer idea on how the hotel looks like.



2) There are 3 rows and 2 coloums for this website. The main navigation on the top and the secondary navigation is on the left hand side whereas the content is on the right hand side. The copy right is at the bottom.




3) On top, there is a tab-stop navigation system where user roll over on it, there will be a drop down picture menu. This picture menu provides a clearer image on the item instead of putting words only. On the content area, intro is display on the left and a horizontal moving (360 degree) hotel view on the right. Visual speaks lauder than words. Therefore, good visual will built good impression. Site map and the copyright are at the bottom.




4) On the "Stay" page, it provides different style of accomadation. There is a room type(superior, deluxe, etc) for user to choose on the left, the secondary navigation. After choosing the room type, the information and the description of the the room will be shown accordingly. The promotion is on the right side for the user to explore.



5) On the "Promotion&Packages" site, inserting good quality of image definately enhance the event that are promoting here. User can feel that it is very happening and exciting here. This will make user want to find out more about it.



6) On the "Location" site, the contact and address are given. There are 2 maps provided here. First, the map to get to Sunway Resort Hotel. Second, the map of Sunway residential area. The map that we see here is the second map. We can see that the company is considering on the user.

The typefaces using in this website maximum not more than three. This website has a very good mode to project the image of Sunway Hotel. As Sunway Hotel itself is for higher class target audience, this website has successfully achieve that.

1) There are 3 rows and 2 coloums for this website. The main navigation on the top and the secondary navigation is on the left hand side whereas the content is on the right hand side. The copy right is at the bottom which we can't see here because need to scroll down.



2) BHP Billiton is the world's largest diversified resources company. As it is a International company, the company certainly has a lot of information to deliver to the world. There is tab-stop navigation system. This website is sliced into two sections, which is the navigation system and the content section. Each individual of the item in the menu has its own content layout. As we can see here is, there is a very short brief about the company on the left. In the middle will be the the latest news, some articles and report. On the right side, there will be the share price, services that are provided.




3) Besides tab-stop, there is always a menu on the left side on every sub-page. It is very easy to navigate. On the "About Us" page, it provides many taglines and a short description of the title. If reader want to know more on certain area, they just go for it. Example, campany history, annual report, company overview....



4) On "Our Businesses" page, user can get to know this company is involved in many products group. This company is a producer, exporter and suppliers as the same time. This is because the involvement of products are well categorized and user can go through easily.




5) This website provides "Advanced Search" for the user to search info straight away. User just has to key in specific keyword, then will launch the quick search. User can also write their commads on the "Feedback" page. We can see that this website is very considering about the user.




6) On the "People&Development" page, again, info is organized in a list of link. For example, the FAQ section, the questions are catergarized by hierachy. It will be very helpful to the user.

This website is very consistent on every page's layout, typefaces and colour mode. There is an advatage for this website is there is many links and short cut to get information. Especialy for an International company which contains many information, it has to be user friendly.

1) On the homepage, the main navigation system is a tab-stop. The content is in the middle. There is a very convienent navigation sytem on the left to check avaibility of flight and hotel. If you are a member, you can login your membership. All the latest promotion and news are shown in the content, so that consumer can firstly eye catching on the offer. The advertisement is always on the right side. Consumer can choose where the consumer come from and the language they prefer. So that offer is shown according to their country.



2) On the "booking" page, there is another tab-stop below the main navigation. Consumer can learn how to book a flight ticket and check fee schedule. Consumer can also change the date of the flight even after booking. They provide convenient services.


3) When click on "Flight + Hotel", it will come to the Go Holiday page where all the flight come togeher with hotel package promotion will be shown here. Consumer can have their own DIY package on where to travel and which hotel to stay by selecting on the navigation system on the left. After fiil in all the info, just wait for checking avaibility. If is available, then will be proceed into next stage where consumer have to confirm the flight time, date, and choose the hotel. Finally consumer can pay the total of amount by credit card.


4) Air Asia is an Asia airlines which has the connection with the Asia countries. At the contact page, the contact information is arranged by hierarchy. Firstly, call centre contact. Secondly, guest support contact. Finally, airport sales station contact over the Asia countries.

The promotion is every eye-catching due to its color, the animated images, font and font size. It is a very straight forward website which involves a lot of two-way interaction. This website has very good services to the user. The user has to be self-service, that's all.

References for War Reporter







The above website is the main source for my website's photo gallery. Go there and have a overall look on all images regarding on Iraq war.









As we can see from its home page, it is a website about war because of the picture of a soldier and the title itself. This mode is the one that I am looking for. The typefont should be Stencil font. Overall, it applies masking effects.




From here, we can see that it does not only concentrate on one war story, there are many war stories, up to 7 war stories. Inside each story, it contains three labels which is coverage, reporting and technology, where user can further look in. The information is very well organized, user can easily select the story that he/she interested to go through.




Finally, this website has many information that are very useful for my assignment. Like the video camera and camera that a war reporter uses to report during the war, some details also included. One thing bad about it is that we cannot right-click to download the picture and copy paste the text. We can only print screen.















The background is using picture and add in effects from Photoshop. The body text is seperated by gradiant grey, it gives a effective contrast. It applies very nice shadow and good sound effect.





It rotate the background but using the same picture while changing to another page. The arrangement of the navigation bar is clear and simple. The spacing with navigation and the background are well done.









From the body text, we can see that some part of the background of the text are using transparency. It does not have to be a box with colour fill in, we can play with the capacity.







The art diretion of using picture with graphic is the direction that I want to appy for my website. I can study the style and make a little aninimation, but not following the entire color mode. The colour mode is not suitable for my occupation.
